Barcelona in Progress
The proposed Glories Plaza will be a new point of centrality of the Catalan capital of Barcelona. The future plaza-park is located at the junction of three major axis in the city, the main thoroughfares of Barcelona (Gran Via, Diagonal and Meridiana). The existing Glories ‘Eye’ or elevated roadway has been a source of controversy for many years, now being demolished.
Existing buildings include the Agbar Tower and accompanied closely by the 22@Innovation District, the new National Theater of Catalunya and Auditorium, Glories Plaza will be a strategic key point between the new and the old Barcelona. The plaza presents a new space upon which buildings will face, including proposed projects of the Museum of Design (DHUB), the new Encants Flea Market and the Ona building.
Below are images of the existing and proposed site conditions. We’ll update them as major advancements are made in the construction.
