Booking your Trip.
There are two basic ticket types to choose from, a single ride ticket or a multi-ride ticket. For those of you traveling in Europe, you may know the multi-ride tickets as EuroRail Passes. EuroRail Passes allow you to travel as often as you like within a specific period of time. These are a great option for those who want to pay for one pass/ticket regardless of the length of your trip. To buy a single train ticket try using a website like raileurope.com. You will be able to buy tickets at your convenience and in almost any currency, saving you the conversion fee on your credit or debit card. If you don't have access to a computer buying your train tickets at a train station is quick and easy and if you are in a pinch you can almost always buy your ticket on board for a little bit more, just make sure you have cash!!

Types of Seating.
Seating depends on budget and availability, chances are a second class ticket is going to be the way to go. A second class ticket will generally let you choose between isle seating, window seating, or compartment seating. Compartment seating is absolutely the way to go if you are in a small group. You can spread out, have a snack, play a game, or pop the cork on a bottle of wine. This is also a great way to save money on overnight trains. Rather then paying extra for a sleeper car you can sleep across the seats or in a reclined position, the choice is yours!
